Renegade Racing

Memorial Day weekend. Time to reflect on the sacrifices the men and women of the military made for our freedom. This weekend is to honor the sailors, solders, marines, and airmen who gave the ultimate sacrifice – their lives. United States of America – Land of the Free because of the Few.

Renegade Raceway. Over the mountain to the Yakima Valley area. Allen Macham, Becky Brown, David Wakefield, David Monsaas, Dennis Boley, Gary Ericksen, Jess Dale, Justin Sibley, Michelle Lewis, Todd Sims, Jeff Jackson, and Rob Curtiss were there.

Qualifying started, Todd Sims went 6.900 to take the Number One Spot. Snap On Tools sponsored the #1 award and the Dalrymple Family was the event sponsor.

Round one started around 7:00. Gary got the win over Dennis who forgot how to drive. Allen went green, Justin went red and gave Allen the win. Jeff took out David W with a better light. Rob won when David M went too quick. Becky went 6.902 to force Jess to break out. Then Todd won when Michelle missed the finish line and broke out.

In round two, we find Rob and Allen matched up. Now secretly Todd was rooting for Rob to take out points leader Allen. It must have worked because Rob went 6.904 for the win. The all Todd had to do was take out Becky. Which he did with a 6.909. Then Jeff took out Gary via a hole shot.

We moved to round three. It was dark and chilly. Rob then beat Jeff with a better light and not breaking out. Todd had the bye into the final.

We got the finalists back ASAP and Todd and Rob staged up. Todd went .007 – 6.947 to force Rob to break out.

Congratulations to Todd Sims and thanks the Dalrymple Family for the extra payout.

Sunday, we started an hour earlier and only had one qualifying pass. Rob Curtis made it pay off with a 6.900 run. We had the same twelve racers. Allen Macham, Becky Brown, David Wakefield, David Monsaas, Dennis Boley, Gary Ericksen, Jess Dale, Justin Sibley, Michelle Lewis, Todd Sims, Jeff Jackson, and Rob Curtiss. FBN Racing was the event sponsor.

Round one started much earlier than Saturday. David W got the win when Rob went red. Then Jeff and Michelle staged up. Michelle rolled through the beams, giving the win to Jeff. Then Todd used a .000 light to defeat Jess. Justin won when Dennis could not make the call. Gary went 6.904 and Becky went red. Allen got the win when David M could make the call.

We got to round two and Allen used a .009 light to force David W to break out. Justin went .016 – 6.890 to beat Gary who went .027 – 6.888. The Todd went .000 for the second time in row to force Jeff to break out.

Time to run the semi-final round. Justin used a better light to defeat Todd and Allen had the bye to the final.

Justin and Allen – final round time. Justin judged the finish line better and took the win over Allen.

Way to go Justin Sibley.

The next race is June 19 and 20 at Bremerton Raceway. It is a National Open so the gate fee will be $100 per day. Plus, the association fee. There will be a potluck at the event.
